Hey, I’m Jodie!
A musician, an independent artist and an avid designer. Welcome to Safe Hands Studio!
About me
I’ve been releasing music since 2019 and always loved spending time on the visual side of being an artist - from building my website, designing merch, re-shuffling my branding story with each new release, designing cover art and expanding on it for physical versions like CD and vinyl. Without really realising, I’d built up the beginnings of a portfolio, specific to benefitting artists.
Before stepping into the music industry as an artist, I studied Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at university (anything with a pattern or interesting surface, my degree was centred around designing that) and became fascinated by design trends, consumer psychology and digital design. During the making of my first album, I freelanced as a Trend Researcher and, since then, had various roles in Digital Marketing alongside my artist career.
Through word of mouth and offering to help artists/labels with their releases, I’ve designed artists’ websites, new merch, CD and vinyl sleeves, promotional assets for social media and helped musicians translate their branding across digital and physical formats that matter to them.
After sitting on my own website and thinking about it for long enough, I’ve taken the leap to showcase what I’ve worked on in the pursuit of collaborating with more artists/labels on their releases!
Why ‘Safe Hands Studio’?
One, I like the name. Two, I released an album called ‘Safe Hands’ in 2024. The whole album’s ethos was centred around self trust with the sole mission to self-produce every track on the record, from small creative decisions to the big, noticeable ones that totally shaped the feel of the visual and sonic experience.
I know it’s biased, but I’d love to think that your project and vision - be it your next merch drop, branding, release artwork etc. - is in safe hands with me, an independent artist who lives and breathes both sides, the music and the design.
The dream for me
Translating your release and vision across the platforms that matter to YOU. It’s not about an overhaul or ripping apart what’s already there and starting from the ground up (unless that’s what you want!). To me, it’s about calibrating the visual story from where you are now to where you’re going next.
One of my bug-bears in the music industry is that artists are expected to learn all the things and do all the things, as well as creating the music. My role is to alleviate the onus on you doing everything, support your creative vision and communicate it in the spaces YOU want to be noticed.
From a new merch offer, a poster for your next show, updating your platforms to reflect your latest release, wide-scale prep across an entire album campaign (the list goes on) - I’d love to hear about your project and take some of that heavy-lifting off your shoulders, so you can spend more time on your artistry and less on shifting elements pixel-by-pixel.
